Centennial Elementary School Library

Welcome!

My name is Camille Barnard and I am the Centennial Elementary school librarian.  I have designed the Library's program and resources to actively support the curriculum and recreational needs of every student here at Centennial.

Students at Centennial get to visit the library on rotation days 4, 5 and 6.  Kindergarten, First and Second grade students may check out one book every visit to the library, while Third through Sixth grades may check out two books at a time.  During scheduled Library classes, students learn about library and research skills, including the Dewey Decimal classification of non-fiction material.  I believe these skills are crucial to students being able to navigate their education through the coming years.  Lessons for all grades will work towards building responsible library users with a lifelong love of reading and learning.

The Library is designed to support the Reading Counts program at Centennial through the bright pink "hot dots" that are present on all books that students are able to read that count towards the program.  I help each student choose a book or books that will challenge them to become better readers and help foster a long-term joy of reading.

As the librarian at Centennial Elementary, I am thrilled to help students become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, and skills researchers.  I truly look forward to helping all students learn and explore in the Library.

Sincerely,

Camille Barnard, Librarian
